-scenes an fbi team is preparing to fly to benghazi to investigate the attack. the compound behind these walls is the major crime scene but any evidence left inside will have been badly contaminated by looters and curious local people who flooded in after the attack. here's what eyewitnesss, officials and libyan commanders in charge that night have told us. sometime around 9:30 p.m. about 70 armed men attacked the consulate's main gates with guns and heavy weapons. they then stormed in, overwhelming local and american security. with all four buildings on fire the libyan government ordered a local militia to the rescue. that militia helped to ferry 31 americans and the body of sean smith out the back gate in armored cars to a house a mile away rented by the u.s. government. shortly afterwards it too came under fierce attack. what we still don't know is how back at the compound ambassador stevens got separated from his security detail only to be found dead or dying just after midnight by the crowd. suspicions for the attack have focused on a powerful islamic militia, ansar al sharia,

fbi is investigating a nasty hoax, a woman and her new boyfriend allegedly pulled on her ex. a u.s. airways flight to dallas returned to philadelphia thursday. officials had gotten a call that christopher shell had explosives on board. he was on his way home to celebrate his 29th birthday. instead he was taken off the plane at gunpoint. cbs news learned his ex's new boyfriend may have placed the call. shell didn't help by posting on facebook that a friend escorted him through security. >> the only thing i did do is walk through with him and guide him around and help him carry things and tell him what the regulations were. >> but shell ended up spending his birthday in jail. he was arrested when he arrived in dallas on outstanding warrants. all kinds of drama. >>> last night's pittsburgh/cincinnati football game in ohio, a member of the band did a lip-synching. cameras caught a trumpet player tumbling down the stadium steps. he missed like six. it caused his instrument to break apart. he managed to put the trumpet back together but missing the mouthpiece. he kept on going. he preten
